Admissions

Blue Sky Independent School provides specialist education for pupils who require a personalised and supportive learning environment.

Places at the school are typically offered to pupils who:

  • Are aged between 5 and 11 years (adjust if needed).

  • Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

  • Have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs that impact their ability to access mainstream education.

  • May experience learning difficulties or low attainment linked to their emotional or social needs.

  • Would benefit from a small, nurturing and therapeutic educational setting.

Each referral is considered individually to ensure that the school can appropriately meet the educational, social and emotional needs of the pupil.

Please see our Admissions Policy and Admissions Process Chart below.

Admissions Process

Most referrals to Blue Sky Independent School are made through the pupil’s local authority as part of the Education, Health and Care Plan process.

Once we receive a referral and determine that the pupil may meet our admissions criteria, we will arrange the following:

  • A visit to the school for the child and their parents or carers.

  • A tour of the school environment and learning spaces.

  • An opportunity to meet key staff members and discuss the school’s curriculum, therapeutic approach and support available.

Following the visit, if all parties agree that Blue Sky Independent School is able to meet the pupil’s needs and that the placement is appropriate, we will work with the local authority and family to complete the formal admissions process.

Our aim is to ensure that every pupil joining Blue Sky Independent School receives the right support, environment and opportunities to succeed.
